Ex-Israeli soldier poses with prisoners for Facebook photos

Eden Abergil, a former Israeli soildier, has come under fire in the online press after she posted photos on the social networking site Facebook where she is seen posing with blindfolding prisoners.

Her use of the prisoners as a backdrop for her numerous photos has drawn criticism from a number of high-profile Israeli news websites and blogs.

The controversy is said to be a reminder of the unmistakable tension between Israeli authorities and the Palestinian citizens living in Israel. See more photos here.

Ground Zero mosque advertisement sparks controversy

The Transit agency responsible for all advertising within the New York public transport system has approved a controversial ad opposing the building of a mosque near Ground Zero, the site of the terrorist attacks which occurred on September 11, 2001.

The ad, which shows the 'Two Towers' burning alongside a rendering of the proposed Islamic Centre, was paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, a group that opposes Islamic advancement in the United States.

Transit Agency officials were sued by the group before they would approve the ad. MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz says the agency doesn't endorse the ad's views.

Glenn Beck compares America under Obama to 'Planet of the Apes'

Glenn Beck, the controversial host of the conservative show of the same name, took time out of his regular slot on the equally conservative Fox News to criticize the Obama administration as running America as if it were 'Planet of the Apes'.

"Here's our fearless leader in a press conference yesterday", he said - moving to a clip which shows Barack Obama giving a speech. "It's like the damn Planet of the Apes!"

Rush Limbaugh: It's only fair that people of color (Michelle Obama) get their taste of wealth too

Controversial conservative pundit and political radio host Rush Limbaugh has said, in response to the news of Michelle Obama's much hyped holiday in Spain, that it is 'only fair that people of color get their taste of American wealth', too. 


"As far as the media's concerned, Mrs. Obama deserves this," he said. "Look at the sordid past. Look at our slave past, look at the discriminatory past. It's only fair that people of color get their taste of the wealth of America too."


The recently married Limbaugh has had his share of controversy. A member of the conservative elite and a person who openly condemns gay rights, the radio host attracted media attention when it was announced that Elton John would be playing at his wedding.

Tea Party billboard compares Obama to Hitler and Lenin [TPM]

Rule No. 37 of comparing Obama to Hitler: It's hard to walk back a billboard. The North Iowa Tea Partyhas put up a billboard in Mason City, Iowa, comparing Hitler, Lenin and President Obama,reports the Associated Press.

The bottom of the sign reads: "RADICAL LEADERS PREY ON THE FEARFUL & NAIVE," while the words "National Socialism" appear above Hitler, "Marxist Socialism" above Lenin and "Democrat Socialism" above Obama. The word "change" is stamped on each picture.

A spokesperson for the Tea Party Patriots told the AP the sign isn't appropriate. Meanwhile, North Iowa Tea Party co-founder Bob Johnson says the sign's pictures may be getting in the way of its intended message — presumably a level-headed and civil comparison of Obama to Hitler and Lenin.

Last month, the North Iowa Tea Party put up a billboard that blared: "WAKE UP AMERICA! Congress is the problem!!! WE ARE COMING FOR YOU. VOTE OUT INCUMBENTS." One can only imagine what they'll put up next month.

Perez Hilton: America has a very dirty imagination

Shamed blogger and accused child pornographer Perez Hilton has apologized (kind of) for pixelating a photo of Miley Cyrus, which implied the underaged pop singer to be waring nothing under her skirt.

"I didn't pick it to make her look like she wasn't wearing underwear", Perez noted, "but thought that it would be funny because she wasn't acting in a very ladylike way". Hilton defended his actions, saying that he didn't pixelate or photoshop anything, and that "I can't help it if America has a dirty imagination".

"I didn't even post the photo on my website", the blogger added, saying that he only linked to it.

"It is insulting to children to accuse this photo of being child pornography, if you want to look at the definition of child pornography", he said.

As if to cement people's perception of Hilton, he was fully convinced that he did the correct thing, and that he would post the photo again should the opportunity came up.
