Apple launches revamped Mac Mini under the radar as iPhone 4 hype grows

If there is one thing that the secretive and widely popular technology company Apple isn't famous for, it's soft, 'under the radar' launches of its products. Well, it appears, under all the hype of the next generation iPhone, the company snuck out a totally revamped, smaller and better performing version of its compact desktop computing product, known as Mac Mini.

The device, which acts like any other computer tower (without the unbearable clutter or height) except it's small, mighty and unbelievably fast compared to other desktop devices.
Apple has touted the product as one that 'plays nicely with others', referring to the way it can be easily and without hassle, coupled with products from other companies, not just Apple itself. This is particularly welcomed within a user community that belongs to a company that is not all that fond of sharing its customer base - and doesn't even syndicate its software onto other hardware platforms.

According to the renowned blog, Computerworld, here are some of the most substantial technical and aesthetic updates:

The Mac mini, for a suggested retail price of $699 (US), includes:
    * 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB of shared L2 cache;
    * 2GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM, expandable up to 8GB;
    * a slot-load 8X SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW);
    * 320GB Serial ATA hard drive running at 5400 rpm;
    * NVIDIA GeForce 320M integrated graphics;
    * AirPort Extreme® 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR;
    * Gigabit Ethernet;
    * four USB 2.0 ports;
