Tonight airs unashamedly political episode of The Simpsons

As the season finale of The Simpsons, which recently aired its 20th season in New Zealand, Coming to Homerica could not be more unashamedly political, nor (dare I say it) topical - especially when you consider the dire state of affairs we see, in particular when it comes to immigration policy.

The episode, which features a Norwegian group of immigrants descending on the fictional town of Springfield, is another of the show's disastrously executed and awkwardly embarrassing attempts to be current and relevant - although in this instance it appears to succeed on some level.

Read a synopsis at Wikipedia here.

The episode was reportedly seen by 5.86 million viewers when it was televised in the United States and was the most well received episode of the entire season.
